English as a Second Language (ESL)

We understand that life at university can be difficult, and even more so when English is not your first language. Sometimes you need some extra help to improve your English speaking, writing, and listening skills.

We encourage you to take advantage of the support available at Dalhousie. Here are some ways you can improve your English.

TAKE AN ESL WORKSHOP

The College of Continuing Education offers a free ESL workshop series and a credit course. It also offers several non-credit courses open to anyone studying, living, or working in Halifax.

GET WRITING SUPPORT

The Dalhousie Writing Centre offers free help and guidance when writing a paper or assignment. They also offer free seminars throughout the year on topics such as adding citations to text and academic integrity. For more information or to make an appointment, contact the Writing Centre.
